Tecolote II Lessons

Had some amazing successes due to an amazing team we have. The scouting was impeccable, they saw angles, spots to stop and play and potentially trouble points. Having our conversation separately and planning the route to Tularosa, NM was probably the best thing we could have done.

Group A took off from East El Paso and left 5 minutes late and pushed forward to Tularosa, NM homestead. While Group B met at North East (edge of Texas restaurant) and left at 8:20 towards Tularosa homestead. Both teams arrived within minutes from each other. We arrived early and we were able to buy last minute items, restroom breaks and have our safety meeting.

We are thankful for Alaska's experience in having those conversations with large groups which makes it easy. At the safety meeting we said, we will not leave a man behind...and we hold that very near and dear to our values....heres the challenge.

If someone decides to pull out and leave without notifying anyone, which forces us to stop and search for this person. Thankfully we did have an individual that knew the person that left, and notified us that kids got a bit scared on a steep hill and he decided to pull out.

Future events we will ask for everyone that is thinking of joining us to send a text message with name, number, and vehicle so we can know whos in with us and who leaves. On this event, we encountered great weather, amazing food, and we had a lot of fun.

On the way out, through the canyon we started to get a little more rain and that quickly turned into a torrential downpour. From the pictures and videos posted on our socials you will see that the canyon was dry coming in, and over 4 inches going out. Although we could see some of the people in the event started to get nervous, as a team we stayed calm cool and collected and that allowed us to keep the line moving in the right direction and more importantly we led the complete convoy out of danger efficiently.

Huge shout out to everyone that came out and specially to the team for having the plan in and out no matter what the weather sent our way.
